Index > Play music on your website

Here you can liven up your website by adding some music to it! You can upload a music file and choose whether you want it to start playing automatically or let the website viewer start it in their own time.

Please note: The music player will only play MP3s therefore please make sure that the file you are inserting is actually an MP3. If it isn't you can convert it using any sound editing package for example Quicktime. Just make sure when you are re-saving it that it will be encoded at 11.025 kHz, 22.050 kHz or 44.100 kHz and at 128kbps (don't worry if you don't know what these mean!)

To edit your music settings:

  1. Click on the Editor tab
  2. Click on the Site Menu and press the 'Site Settings' button.
  3. Click on the Music icon and a dialog box should open.
  4. Under MP3 Music File URL enter the name of the music song you want to play on your website. Please make sure you have uploaded it to your webspace below. If you haven't done this then press the Browse button in the 'Upload files to your webspace' section, then locate the mp3 file on your computer and press the Start button. Once this is done it should appear in the Files on your webspace box below and you can simply enter the name of the file in the MP3 Music File URL below. Try to avoid using unusual letters, brackets or spaces.
  5. Check the Auto Start box if you want your song to start playing automatically. If left unchecked the song won't start until the person viewing the website presses play on the music player.
  6. If you want to disable the music just press the 'Disable Music' button at the bottom of the window.
  7. Press the Save button to save your changes.
